Server outages are nothing new to online services. Valve has been making some adjustments to the platform lately, though they haven't related to servers, at least that's been announced. Because of that, it isn't clear when the service is estimated to come back online. There have been no updates on Steam's official support Twitter account, nor the standard account. It isn't immediately clear what's causing the issue. Users are still able to launch and play games, though they will see a prompt warning that cloud saves are disabled. However, it appears that user libraries are functioning normally. User profiles appear to be working to a limited degree, showing certain information like profile comments, groups, but no showcased information, like recently played games or badges earned. Trying to access the store page will result in a black screen, as will the Community tab. The outage follows Steam users having trouble accessing certain games yesterday, including Red Dead Redemption 2 and a number of Bethesda games, like Skyrim. Steam is currently experiencing a widespread server outage, which seems to be impacting multiple aspects of the popular storefront application. UPDATE: It appears that Steam's servers are slowly coming back online.
